Cut yer Bars Trail Day: Saturday, May 22nd
Last Saturday, 26 students grade 5 & 6 students from Myrtle Phillips, and their instructor Mr. Richer, came out to clear and start cutting in a new connection trail into Cut Yer Bars from the Muni Yard access. The new trail has been christened Area 56 by the students.
This coming Saturday, we are going to continue their hard work and hopefully finish the project.
Our next trail day is:
Saturday, May 22nd
Sponsored by Bear Back Biking
Meet at 9am, at the access road to the Municipal Yard next to the bus depot (across the hwy from Spruce Grove).
Please bring work gloves, gardening shears, small saws, or any portable cutting tool you may have.
We’re still looking for sponsors for our trail days. Please send an email to trails@worca.com if interested.

Youth Dirt Camp Registration is Now Open
For schedule of dates and full camp details, please visit the youth section of our website.
We ask that parents register their children for one camp only. There is a high demand for the WORCA Dirt Camps and we like to give as many kids the opportunity to participate. Any spaces available on July 1st will be opened up to everybody.
Due to continued community grants, local fundraising efforts, and the profit made from our community bike swap, the price for local residents will remain $160 for the Dirt Camps. Local residents will be given priority to register their child(ren) starting on May 1, 2009. Please note, the dirt camp pricing for Squamish and Pemberton residents will default to $260. After registration, participants will be refunded the $100 difference.
If you are visiting Whistler, we would love to have your children participate in our Dirt Camps. Registration will be available for visitors on July 1, 2009 and the cost will be $260.
For your convenience please have ready prior to registration:
- A valid WORCA membership is required for each participant. You will be asked to sign in using the login and password you created when purchasing your membership. If you have not renewed your memberships for this year, the camp registration form will say “no camps are available”. Memberships can be purchased online here.

WORCA Youth Members Presented with Civilian Citations
At the October 6th Council Meeting, Fire Chief Rob Whitton awarded WORCA youth members Lauren Doak, Zachary Davis, and Oliver Spratt with a Civilian Citation from the fire service for their efforts in stopping a forest fire on the Big Kahuna Trail last summer. The three kids noticed the fire along with their running coach Munro Duncan and used the water in their camel backs to calm the fire until the fire department arrived on scene.

If you have a youngster who isn’t yet registered for a camp, put their name down on a waitlist - there’s a good chance we can secure them a spot! We are also extending to age of our older camps to include 9 year olds; so the older camps are now for ages 9-12. There’s only two weeks to go before we open up registration to everybody. Please visit the youth section of our website for more information.
