Trails Update: May 22, 2026
Little Tweaks in Short Weeks
After a restful Victoria day, the crew quickly replaced a bridge and headed to Beaver Pass for another little modernizing tweak. Longer wheelbased bikes barely fit in some of the janky corners so we “opened the line” so to speak. Paired with last fall’s work through the fire-thinned forest, Beaver Pass is pretty much “all down” now. While in the area, we also accentuated some turns on Hot Dog Pass and I must say: It gets better every time I test it! How will it fare in the Scandinave Spa sponsored Toonie? We still need to put up some signposts in the area, but that’s not on the to-do list until the next long weekend…
Marmot Who?
Do you remember July 2022? Me neither. I had to dig deep into my inbox to figure out what was going on. We were working on Salted Caramel, a new line for Business time and Lord of the Squirrels was already dusty and “Grizzly-y”! I had to refine my inbox search to find any fanfare about an imminent (haha) new trail. The application to build a trail from Into the Mystic to Function Junction had been submitted almost a year earlier so we were getting (prematurely) stoked. So stoked that a naming contest was launched before shovels were even invented.
Tim’s instagram post announcing the contest did hint at a rodent based theme and the submissions followed suit. My suggestion… “Rat Race” was immediately disqualified due to my experience repeatedly circumnavigating the sun. Qualified WORCA youth submitted hundreds of suggestions. Much later, albeit still really prematurely, the esteemed Board of Directors convened at a secret location for no other reason than to debate and ultimately vote for Oliver Koch’s entry - the MARMOT MAYHEM! (you used the stadium voice to read that right?). Thanks for all of the entries… I’m now equipped with enough rodent themed trail names to construct my fantasy bike park! WORCA members can join us to dig on the new trail by signing up HERE!
See you on the Trails!
