Trails Update: August 29, 2025
looking for water!
I started the week needing a hefty dose of Ibuprofen after completing my “remix” of the 2005 Samurai of Singletrack. My legs were sore but my heart was proud following my personal “biggest ride ever”. I only got to brag for a hot minute at the morning meeting before both Reilly and Tall Michal’s weekend exploits vastly eclipsed mine! I love being surrounded by ambitious high achievers!
Right after a stellar week of repairs on Yummy Numby, our momentum into Comfortably Numb was stifled by the wildfire risk rating (and thermometer) rising. On my weekend ride, I confirmed that there are currently no running creeks or ponds between Yummy and Bring On The Weekend. In these conditions we need water nearby to cool the crew and soak our worksites so we were forced to swap items around on the seasonal to-do list. First we went to Kadenwood where we added supports to the large (middle) Tunnel Vision crossing which had been heavily eroded by this spring’s snow melt runoff. A nice benefit of this worksite was the convenience to drive right in with all of the supplies (and frozen treats!). Next, we tackled the 99’er/Bush Doctor/Danimal intersection by Gebhart creek. We redesigned the merge to minimize the chance of collision. This was another project for which most of the parts were already made at our yard and we simply assembled 3 bridges in what seemed like record time.

Volunteer digging events are starting up again on Sunday September 7th! Despite the kids going back to school, this lingering heat wave is making me feel like it’s still summer so we’re shifting to morning digging. The 9am starts will leave ample time for an afternoon run/ride/swim. The first Sunday morning event is sponsored by Coast Mountain Trail Running. The crew has prepared the next segment of the “Rock Rabbit Upwards Extension" project. That still doesn’t quite sound right… but I can’t wait to connect it all! Sign up here and see you on Sunday!
See you on the Trails!
