NEW Adult Skill & Bike Tech Clinics starting in June
Are you looking to improve your riding and bike maintenance skills? Then look no further! WORCA is collaborating with local coaches and bike shops to provide you with Mountain Bike knowledge, technique and expertise!
Tune UP Tuesdays – Ride the Toonies with Confidence!
Work with WORCA’s expert coaches to improve your MTB skills for 3 sessions.
This program is designed specifically to enable adult MTB riders to improve their skill set for the purpose of greater enjoyment and confidence at the weekly Toonie races. This is not a racing clinic! There will be no intervals!
The coaches for this program have specific experience riding in the Toonies and thorough knowledge of the trail system. This program will result in you, the adult rider, developing your skills in a fun atmosphere guaranteed to kick your season off right!
Morning Toonie Tune-Up: June 3, 10, and 17 – 10-11:30am
Evening Toonie Tune-Up: June 3, 10, and 17 – 6-7:30pm
Sessions: 3 x 90 minutes
Meeting place: Passive Haus, Lost Lake
Price: $100 (must be a WORCA member)
Specific Skills: Basic Bike Mechanics, Cornering, Braking, Climbing, Descending, Bike Body Position, Front Wheel Lift.
Ratio: 1 coach to 3 riders (Mornings max 6 participants, Evening sessions max 9 participants)
Comor Bike Tech Skills Sessions
Learn how to keep your bike in tip-top condition giving you a better mountain bike experience. Clinics are provided by Comor Sports for WORCA members.
Tuesday June 3: Week 1 – setting up suspension and pre-ride bike checklist
Tuesday June 10: Week 2 – flat tire repairs and fixing chains
Tuesday June 17: Week 3 – trail-side brake and shifting adjustments
Where: Comor Sports
Cost: Nothing but please pre-register for any/all clinics and consider donating to WORCA’s Trail Building/Maintenance activities
Wonder Woman Clinics – Women Only!
Be ready on race day to fly down the course Wonder Woman style battling technical obstacles with your new found powers (skills)! The goal for these 3 hour clinics is to learn specific riding skills and practice the technical sections so you can ride on race day with more confidence and style.
2 Levels to choose from:
Level 1: I need some serious tips to help me get more wind in my cape!
Level 2: I want to fly down the course with my cape flapping behind me. just need a few more tips
Price: $50 per clinic (registration closes 3 days before each clinic but email email@example.com for last minute spots)
Cancellations: $10 cancellation fee, no cancellation/refunds within 36 hours of clinic start
People: 5 people max, sign up quick!

Skill Prep Clinics
Take one of these skill review clinics prior to the Trail Practice Clinics. Learn and refine specific skills such as technical riding, rock face descents, sharp corners, and uphill obstacles.

Sunday June 22 10am-1pm
Wednesday June 25 4-7pm
Technical Trail Practice (trails to be disclosed 4 weeks out)
Get out on the race course trails and session some of the more technical sections, reviewing skills along the way.

Sylvie has been actively involved in mountain biking from coaching to racing internationally since the 90’s and is owner of Sweet Skills Mountain Bike Coaching. She has been at the top of the women’s field in both the cross country and downhill events and now passes on her love of mountain biking to others of all abilities… And of course participates in fun events like this one!More info and questions, check out www.sweetskills.ca
