Trail Work Update: 21 July 2017

The trimming and choking program continued this week with de-branching on "Sirloin", "Darwin's", "Korova Milkbar" and "A Rockwork Orange". TRAFFIC JAM: Twenty or so DFX kids put on quite a circus trying to negotiate that one right-hander move on "A Rockwork Orange"... Thanks for the show! WORCA is celebrating the official opening of its first Alpine Trail (official opening ceremony TBC) with the release of a Lord of the Squirrels (LOTS) T-Shirt. Our thanks go to designer (and WORCA PR Director) Jenna Fox for the design, Dale Mikkelsen our Fundraising Director for spearheading this project to keep our alpine trails sustainable, and local Toad Hall Studios for producing these beauties. Alpine Sproatt Trail Weekend sponsored by Norco Fri July 3 - Sunday July 5 This is our next big push on the new Alpine Sproatt Trail and it should be a whole lot of fun! FireSmart on Tunnel Vision

Whistler to begin wildfire fuel thinning project April 7 Whistler, B.C.-The Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW) will commence a wildfire fuel thinning project in a 14.7-hectare area above the Millar's Pond and Spring Creek subdivisions on April 7. "Fuel thinning" involves removal of ground brush and debris, as well as trimming of branches and some tree removal to reduce the risk of wildfire.
