2017 Lumpy’s Award goes to Amy Ertel

The Lumpy Award was presented by WORCA President Craig Mackenzie at the 2017 WORCA AGM. 'Geoff "Lumpy" Leidal was a local athlete who was killed in an avalanche in 1998. In his honor, the Lumpy Leidal Award is presented each year to a local junior who has been found outstanding as a sportsperson, a volunteer and someone who epitomizes athleticism in our local youth. Did you know... Many invasive plants are able to spread rapidly through trail networks by "hitchhiking" on people, pets, or their equipment. For example, seeds, burrs, and plant parts can get caught up in the tires of a mountain bike, and be transported to the next area or trail where the biker rides. To prevent the spread of invasives, it is important to clean shoes, gear (like mountain bikes!), and pets before leaving the trail-head or moving to a new trail-head. ... Read more

The WORCA Annual General Meeting (AGM) is scheduled for Thursday, November 16. During the AGM all Board of Director (BOD) positions are up for election/re-election. The Youth Director, Race Director, and PR Director are stepping down so the Nomination Committee are looking for candidates to fill these three vacant positions. Teamwork and Whistler's Trail Network When the snow melts in the Spring it’s time for WORCA’s trail crew to get the trail assessments in motion. The season will begin with trail inspections, as the trails become accessible.
